The MCAT is hard.

Because it’s one of the most important pieces of your medical school application, the MCAT is also incredibly nerve-racking. You can achieve high grades for years and complete hundreds—if not thousands—of hours across various extracurricular activities, but if you approach MCAT prep the wrong way and don’t do well on the exam, your chances of getting into your dream med schools will sink, big time.

While your pre reqs teach you the bio, chem, and physics you need to do well, the MCAT isn’t simply a science test. In fact, you can study all the science you want, but if you don’t master MCAT strategy, you won’t even scratch your highest possible score.

Unfortunately, MCAT prep materials are insufficient for most students. They focus far too much on test content and they don’t adequately teach you how to apply the information to do well on the exam.

And then, there’s the CARS section, which stumps even the best test takers. You can read passage after passage to learn how to approach reading comprehension on the MCAT, but most students never really get it. As a result, some of the strongest students ace the science sections but have an imbalanced score profile due to a low CARS score, and perhaps even a low Psych/Soc score.

Rather than let a low or so-so MCAT score compromise your chances of getting into your dream medical schools, you should prep for the MCAT the right way. Study the content that will actually be covered on the exam, and then focus on proven test-taking strategies to achieve your maximum score. That way, you won’t wonder whether you left any points on the table.

+ Is tutoring done in person or online?

Tutoring is done over video, where you can work with your advisor live and face-to-face, share screens, and draw on our virtual whiteboard to show your work in real time, which closely resembles the in-person experience. Your tutor would help you achieve your maximum MCAT score, regardless of however you learn best.

In addition to live tutoring sessions, you would have full email access to your tutor to send questions any time, ask them to review practice problem sets, or anything else you might need. It's all customized to you and none of the time we spend developing custom lesson plans, answering your questions via email, studying your missed question logs, or providing accountability is counted towards your hourly tutoring allotment.

+ I'm not yet sure when to take the exam. Would you advise me on that?

Absolutely! Based on the results of an initial MCAT diagnostic exam, we would identify your strengths and weaknesses with test content and strategy to recommend potential test dates. We would also develop a custom study schedule to help you tackle your prep at the right pace without burning out or sacrificing key material.

+ What's covered during a tutoring session?

Our MCAT tutoring is based on four pillars: content review, strategy analysis, guided practice, and test review. You and your tutor will find the optimal balance of these four pillars to maximize your score.

Early on, you'll focus more on content review and lessons during your tutoring sessions. As your content mastery grows, you'll focus more on learning how to apply proven srategies during guided practice passages. Finally, you'll see the biggest jumps as your tutor reviews your practice exams, identifies patterns across questions you've missed, and helps you make key improvements so that you get those questions right in the future.

+ Which MCAT tutoring plan do you recommend?

It depends on your test date, starting point, and score target. For instance, if you have a month before the exam or need help with just one section (e.g., CARS), then the Select Plan (10 hours of live tutoring) might work for you.

If you have 2-3 months and want a more comprehensive option to help you achieve your best score, the Superior (25 hours) or Superior+ (40 hours) would be good options. And if you have 3, 4, or more months before the exam and want to ensure that no stones are left unturned, the Superior+, Top Scorer (60 hours), or Top Scorer+ Plan (80 hours) would give you the greatest benefit.

+ Can I sign up for a la carte MCAT tutoring instead of a plan?

You're indeed welcome to sign up for two-hour a la carte tutoring sessions for $599 here.

+ How does the score increase guarantee work?

After being paired with a tutor, you will be assigned a full-length practice exam to establish your baseline MCAT score. After completing 20 hours of tutoring, your tutor will assign you two additional full-length practice exams (you may also choose to have an official MCAT exam count toward one of the two additional full-length practice exams your tutor will assign). If you do not see a score increase on at least one of these two additional exams, your existing tutoring plan will be credited 5 additional hours at no additional charge.

+ How flexible is scheduling? Can I schedule sessions over the weekend?

We will work around your schedule at all times to ensure that you can devote sufficient attention to your academic and extracurricular work. And yes, we do schedule weekend tutoring sessions.

+ How soon after signing up would tutoring begin?

You will be paired with your tutor within 24 hours of signing up so that we can get started right away and work around your schedule as needed.
